Christian Confidence: How to Walk Boldly Without Feeling Guilty

Christians struggle with confidence because we confuse it with arrogance. But God never called you to shrink. He called you to shine. Confidence rooted in God is humility in motion.

This will not be welcomed by Satan because confidence rooted in God means that God’s plans for your life will win souls for the Kingdom of God. As a matter of fact, the enemy will literally send his devices to harm you when you are confident and excited about what God’s plan is for your life. Don’t believe me? Ask Joseph in Genesis 37 - 50 and he will tell you that not everyone is happy to hear that you will be ahead of them.

So does this mean that you should be ashamed of the purpose that God has for your life? Absolutely not! God has big and wonderful plans for you to allow you to prosper and have an abundant life (Jeremiah 29:11). Therefore, as God told Josiah in Josiah 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Be bold as you go about your daily tasks. Be confident as you try to get closer to God by praying more, reading your bible more, worshipping more, learning more about God, fasting, going to church, or spending time with other Christians. There is no shame in getting to know or even speaking about God. So what if someone has something bad to say about you wearing something that speaks about God or they see you speaking about God more? As Psalms 27:1 (NKJV), “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”

So are you looking down on others if you are telling others about God and you are happy to walk with God? No. We are all God’s creation and we are all made in God’s image - including people who are not Christians (Ephesians 2:10). Therefore, we cannot do that because we too were once sinners who were given God’s grace by being able to receive salvation through believing that God sent His son Jesus Christ to die for us to be pardoned from our sins (John 3:16). Furthermore, what we are called to do is to follow Micah 6:8 (GNTD), which says “No, the Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.”

So the best way to break through any insecurity you face as you share your faith in God is to remember Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) “I can do all things through [a]Christ who strengthens me.” Secondly, start small as you pray for God to guide you through what to do. You can start a T-Shirt or a Hoodie or carry a tumbler that talks about God or give one as a gift to start a conversation while you go through your daily activities (going to the gym, going to your workspace, etc.).

You can also start by sharing a song about God or have it playing in your car first. Then start a conversation about what people think about what you are wearing and what they think about God. You can pray at the start of and throughout the process in your heart. Also, do not take it personally if people do not gravitate to the message the right way, all you need to do is sow the seed, Holy Spirit will stir the hearts of who the message is meant to reach (1 Corinthians 3: 6-7). You are not a bad child of God or a failure because someone is not willing to hear about God. Let the Holy Spirit minister to their hearts at the right time.
